Charles Mister has been a public school elementary music teacher in Brooklyn, NY for the past seven years. The focus of his teaching practice curriculum is to open up the amazing diversity of musical expressions across the world for his students while giving them the tools to express themselves musically.  

 

Charles is a facilitator for the Arts Monday program, guiding professional learning communities toward implementing formative assessment into arts education.  He was the recipient of the Astor Travel Fellowship and participated in an intensive ten day program in Prague focused on world music pedagogy.

 

Charles is also a composer and instrumentalist who has performed in rock and jazz bands over the years and most recently put out a CD of songs in Spanish for kids with his wife called, El Baile del Sombrero.
